How did you come up with the idea for My Festival?
The idea for My Festival came about when I was organizing my second T in the Park. As someone who’d been attending annually since the festival’s inception in 1995, I began to reflect on all the different aspects of being a part of
What do you remember about your first ever Edinburgh festival appearance?
I vividly remember my first Edinburgh festival appearance. It was in 2002 and I was just 10 years old at the time. I was performing in a school play and we were chosen to represent Scotland in the Young Performers competition. It was such an amazing experience to be part of the festival and to see all of the other acts perform. I loved it!
How was lockdown for you? Did it change you, and if so, how?
lockdown for me was pretty normal and I didn’t change at all because it was just like any other day.
What’s the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?
I get up and make coffee.
Tell us something about you that would surprise people.
For a long time, I’ve been a part of the underground music scene. I started out playing in punk and hardcore bands in high school, and I continued to play in various punk and post-hardcore bands throughout college. After I graduated, however, I decided to take a break from music and focus on my career. About two years ago, I decided to start playing music again and formed a band with some friends. We played around town for a while and eventually got signed to a small label. We’re currently working on our first album.
What do you recall about your very first Edinburgh celebration appearance?
I was poor, ravenous, dozing head to toe in a bed with two other cast individuals, and acting in a setting that does not exist anymore… and I totally cherished it!
